Recently I have had some carpentry work done on the inside and outside of my house. Mick Manzola was so organized and honest right from the beginning. He walked me through step by step of what could be done and how things could be changed for the better. He made my front porch look brand new with his innovative ideas and craftsmanship. His work ethic is impeccable and his pricing is completely fair for all the time and energy he puts into the job. I could not have been more happy with the results and would recommend him to anyone who wants outstanding wood working done that you know will last.

When you move into your new ‘downsize’ antique home on the river and look for professionals to do both major construction and detail work, the best scenario features apprehension and angst. Relaxing on our new deck and thinking back of the recent weeks of design, construction and finishing touches, Heidi and I are resoundingly thankful for the work of Manzola Carpentry. And there was no worry, no problems. Mick Manzola and everyone of his crew was professional, thoughtful, flexible and respectful. All work was maximum quality and fairly priced. Creative, practical ideas guaranteed a great marriage of modern, code-appropriate craftsmanship to our antique dream. From the new entry doors and deck to the many, many interior trim finishes, we are very happy with everything. All of our friends and family now comment that the home was ‘made complete’ by the work.

We had Mickey and his helper come into our home April 2014 to do our stairway completely over. We chose Manzola Carpentry because we heard great reviews about his outstanding work. We had hardwood stairs put in, new spindles and railings. Mickey helped me throughout the process and gave me some great ideas. They came in and were very professional, they always cleaned up after themselves at night. The job was done and the work is incredible! We could not ask for more. Our stairway was a challenge, was not very level, but it's done and it's amazing. We would defiantly recommend them without a doubt. His work is superb and he and his helper were wonderful to work with. Thanks!

If you are looking for a top notch, prideful, dependable contractor that provides a professional service look no further than Manzola Carpentry. I cannot say enough good things about Manzola Carpentry. Their finished product speaks for itself. The one thing I always look for when deciding what contractor to use, is if they take their job personally. The owner of the company, Mic Manzola not only takes his jobs personally, he goes the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied. I highly recommend using Manzola Carpentry for any of your remodeling or carpentry jobs. I did and I am 100% satisfied.

Mick Manzola constructed an addition, including a two car garage, “great room”, mud room, bathroom, and farmer’s porch for our family in 2006. At the time we contracted with Mick, my wife and I, with our three teen-aged children, were living in a garrison colonial that we had purchased new in 1985. We were “growing out” of the house as it had only one and one-half baths, we wanted a bigger living space in which we could all entertain, and I wanted a garage.

We knew what we wanted, and we had a pretty good idea of what our budget would allow. Other contractors that we had consulted tried to convince us that we should put the addition on the other side of the house due to the location of our septic tank, or that we should enlarge our kitchen and forego the “great room”, or they made other recommendations that suited their plan, not ours. .

When Mick first came to the house, he assured us that he could put the addition where we wanted it to be constructed, that he had a good excavator who could easily remove and install a new septic tank, etc…,. Mick assured us that he would be physically present throughout the construction process, that he would hire only first-class subcontractors, and that our family would be safe and inconvenienced only to the minimum necessary in the construction of this addition.

Mick recommended hiring an architect so that the addition would not look like an addition, and although he were initially hesitant to spend money on an architect, we are glad we took his counsel. As the project went along we decided to replace the windows in the “old house”, to install vinyl siding on the entire house, to put new architectural shingles on the roof of the entire house, and to bring everything together by connecting old and new with a farmer’s porch, which is both aesthetically pleasing and very functional. Mick recommended tapered columns to support the roof of the porch and it looks fantastic.

Mick finished the project according to schedule and according to his initial estimates. My wife and I and children were never inconvenienced as all of the workers were very polite and cleaned up after their work on a daily basis. There were no “incidents” at all. My wife and I never feared when our teenagers got home from school and we weren’t home yet, and the workers were still at the house. When Mick was done with our addition, we had a house that much better suited the needs of our family.

The only problem we had, and this is the absolute truth, is that when the addition was completed, and friends and relatives came over to visit, they frequently drove by the house thinking that the “new house” could not possibly be the house that they had been visiting us at for the prior twenty-one years! Needless to say, we recommend Mick Manzola for your personal renovations, without hesitation.

In 1987 Mick Manzola finished our basement level of our new home. We appreciated his professional and thoughtful manner. We found him to be very honest and a creative problem solver. He never made a change without consulting us. He built a bedroom, bathroom, laundry room and walk in closets in 2 1/2 months. He obviously cared about his work and we have been completely happy with it. Additionally, he built a fence around our back yard. That fence has withstood Colorado's chinook winds (up to 110 mph) for many winters while the neighbors' fences frequently blew over. Our only frustration is that he moved out of Colorado to Mass. and is no longer available to work on our new projects. We'd hire him again in a heartbeat! He does great, quality work and obviously takes pride in his profession."

I have known Mick Manzola for going on 16 years. When we first bought our home in 1990, the rear deck had been poorly maintained and we wanted to replace it with a 3-season screen porch and Mick handled that project for us and built a 12x12 porch that came out beautiful and we have enjoyed it for many years. Over the past year, it had fallen into some disrepair simply due to the elements. The screens were torn and a small area at the screen door entrance had rotted away. I ran into Mick a few months ago and told him it was time and over the summer he came and ripped out the rotted area and replaced all of the damaged screens with better and more updated features at a very reasonable price for labor and materials. He even painted the trim on the inside of the screen frame for me without asking.

Mick also finished our basement (approx. 600 sq. ft) for us a few years later and that has been our "family-cave" for many years through playroom stages and now is a 2nd family room for us. He added built in benches and built in entertainment center and a closet underneath the stairs for storage.

All of this is general contractor work that you may find anywhere, but Mick is a like having a big brother as your contractor. You feel like you're a part of his family when you become a customer. He takes time to get to know you as a person and he wears his heart on his sleeve so there is nothing hidden about the way he approaches his work or the way he treats his customers and best of all--he RETRUNS PHONE CALLS!

Mick is a consummate professional and perfectionist and what's more, he is by far the most honest, down-to-earth and caring contractor I have ever worked with. Mick's workmanship is that of a true carpenter. He does not cut corners and he does not overcharge you. He works with you, truly listens to what you want and will do whatever it takes to get it done right the way you want it at a cost you can afford. It may be too general to label him a "general" contractor. Mick is my "personal" contractor and I wouldn't trust another with any home improvement project. Mick's the best!

My elderly parents needed a complete bathroom remodel with safety features. I live in Colorado and had some anxiety about people being in my parents' home and interacting with them without me being there. I spoke with Mick Manzola and knew I'd found the right man. The work was done on time and on budget. More importantly, he and his work crew conducted themselves honestly and professionally. In the final week of work, my 90-year-old mother was baking for them -- dozens of her terrific chocolate chip cookies. The entire project was a great success on so many levels. I would recommend Mick Manzola and his crew totally and completely to anyone looking for the finest work by the most trustworthy people.

Mick Manzola worked for us in June - Sept of 2008. He was our contractor for our master bedroom/bath addition over our garage.

From the very first meeting, Mick impressed us with his friendliness and knowledge of his craft.

The first meeting went very well and we followed up with subsequent meetings which he was always very prompt. He was always available for questions that we had, and would make an effort to get back to us within a reasonable amount of time.

We found Mick to be unusual in this regard because of issues with contractors we had in the past. They seemed to take their sweet time returning our calls.

Mick was always on the job promptly with a smile and a warm hello and always very professional. We really appreciated his friendly attitude.

The work he did was done in a timely manner and with skill and precision.

We are very happy with his work and we are enjoying our new space immensely! Over the years, we have referred Mick to many of our friends who have also employed his services with success.

Mick is a really good contractor and a really nice person. I will continue to refer him to people I know, and if need be, would have him return for future projects.

Mick Manzola has done various carpentry work on my home in Hopedale. More specifically he screened in our back porch, built an attic access stairway, remodeled the kitchen and replaced several windows. His knowledge and experience in the area of home improvement is excellent and the quality of his work is superb. He communicates well, is enjoyable to work with, and is honest with his pricing of each project. I also trust his sub-contractors. All of the people who have worked on my house through Manzola Carpentry have treated my family and my home with much respect.

Mick built an addition for us in 2006. I would recommend Manzola Carpentry to do any job. He kept the workplace spotless which was important to us because of our small children. He kept us informed of the progress of our project as it went along and was open to discussing changes mid-stride. He does impeccable work and all his subcontractor's that came to the house were just as neat and conscientious of our family as you would want anyone working in your home. My wife and I are so happy with the job Mick did, we wouldn't think of hiring someone else to do any construction job we might have in the future.

Mick is a problem solver. We needed a new slider in our dining room, but couldn't decide on a brand. Mick recommended Marvin and told us where to go to see them. We picked one, Mick put it in, and it works beautifully.

Just recently, we had some rotted facia boards. We thought we'd ask Mick to replace them and the we'd have to have them painted. Mick suggested one of his subcontractors who could replace the rotted wood and then clad everything that was exposed, eliminating the need to have anything painted. His subcontractors were great: no loud music, no swearing, and no mess left behind. And they handled our three dogs well.

It is with pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Manzola Carpentry. I first contracted with Mick Manzola nearly ten years ago to finish our basement. I chose Mick based upon the testimonial of a neighbor and can say now that it was absolutely the correct decision. Over the years, Mick has gone on to do many, many jobs for me including an entire makeover of our homes’ main living area. It was particularly beneficial having Mick’s creative suggestions and guidance all the while working with my ideas. He has made custom pieces of furniture and refaced cabinetry that beautifully reflect the look I was hoping to achieve. Mick is meticulous and takes pride in his work and settles for nothing short of his own expectations as well as his customers.’ His pride is evident in that he asked to bring family members to see his completed handiwork. I could not be more pleased with the results and surely will plan to hire him for future projects.

Yours truly, a very satisfied customer,

Joan D, Mendon, MA

Over the past few years Mick has done a lot of remodeling for me including two bathrooms, a kitchen, and adding a small deck. Most recently he added a screened-in porch to the back of my house. The neighbors have all admired the wonderful job he did of fitting it into the style of the house making it look like it has always been there. His work is excellent and he is meticulous with detail. I highly recommend him for any project you may be considering.

Mick is a delight to work with. He makes it easy to optimize the space you have, and is very easy to work with to design and build the best possible basement in the space available. His attention to detail, and pride in his work and workmanship are exceptional. We would absolutely recommend to others.

Hi! This is in reference to Mick Manzola's carpentry work performed at my house.

My wife and I had decided to finish our basement. We started calling different contractors for estimates, both cost and timeline. Mick's estimate met our expectation, and once we committed, he stated that the entire job would be completed in 6 weeks. The final step was to see previous work. He put us in contact with a family whose basement was recently finished by Mick. After seeing the basement, we knew that Mick was our general contractor.

Throughout the process, we were impressed with Mick's constant contact with us. He answered all questions and concerns, and there were many of both. Mick co-ordinated with the plumber, electrician, plaster finishers, ceiling installers, and town inspectors.

Our basement turned out beautiful. The meticulous care in Mick's work was immediately apparent, and we receive complements all the time. The finish work is what gets the most notice, and we always tell people who our gc was.

As we have done over the years, we continue to highly recommend Mick Manzola and his work for anyone looking to do home improvements.

I have known Mick Manzola for about 10 years. Mick has done 4 major projects in my home. He also did work on a rental property that I owned. Everything Mick does is top quality. He puts 110% into his work and expects that from anyone who works for him. I have been extremely pleased with all Mick's work and would only trust him to work on my home. I know Mick cares about the work he produces but more importantly he cares about his customers. That means alot.

I have used Manzola Carpentry for home improvements on numerous occcasions. Just to name a few. I had this remodeling contractor do a basement remodel for me. They insulated my exterior walls and did a plaster ceiling. All the subs were courteous, and most importantly concientious about their work. I was so pleased that at a later date. I sought their assistance in doing a rather large addition for me. When I phoned Mick he returned my call within a few hours. He came to my house when he said he would. We agreed on the job and I hired him to build me a 14x20 dining room with a 9 foot vaulted ceiling. It has double mulled 52 inch windows in the front. And a 8 foot slider out the back. A gas fireplace on the gable end with a window to the right and the left of the fireplace. After building this dining room it enabled me to increase the size of my kitchen. Mick had to tear a wall down and replace 2 windows with crankout windows. All the subs that Manzola Carpentry used kept the work area neat and tidy at the end of each work day.

Mic has done excellent work for us in three homes over the last 10 years. He has finished two basements with bathrooms and bedrooms, restored and extended a deck and created a large built-in style window seat, cabinet and shelving unit for our family room. The quality of his craftsmanship is top notch. He is reliable, neat, and meticulous.

What sets him apart is his honesty and integrity. At all stages of the projects he has worked on, he has listened to what we've been able to articulate about what we want and what we like. He is also very willing to offer his opinion on what he might do that might lead to us being even happier with the finished project than if he did it "our way". At the end of the day he has always seemed to be most interested in our being happy with his work. No matter the size of the project, Mic takes pride in his work and stands behind its quality.

In 2005, when we were about to add a sunroom to our house, we interviewed 5 contractors and selected Mick Manzola for the work based on 3 points:

  1. His better answers to our questions compared to the other 4 contractors.
  2. The really good extra advice he offered during our 1st meeting even when it was not clear if he would be chosen for the project.
  3. His surprising enthusiasm about the opportunity to build a really fine sunroom.

Ground was broken in October and the 20 x 20 sunroom and the same size media room below were completed in time for Christmas. Despite the short amount time it took to build both rooms, the addition involved some very time consuming work such as the excavation for a cement foundation which required time to cure before other work could begin, and wait time for inspections by the town at several stages.

Mick works with subcontractors with whom he has built working relationships over the years. They are all excellent in their area of expertise. Mick manages the ordering of materials and scheduling perfectly. There was not any down time during the 12 weeks of the build. If one aspect was on hold another was in progress. Material was delivered in advance of need, clean up was constant and communication was ongoing.

We are not easy to please. We do not want to be able tell any workers have been in the house. We both had full time jobs at the time and trusted Mick completely to enforce our standards. And then we found out these were the same standards he and his subcontractors intended to meet on their own.

The sunroom has 14 oversized windows, 2 arched windows, and a slider. There are 6 windows and a slider and an interior door downstairs. The interior door required cutting through the original cement foundation of the house. These new rooms include 2 custom built book cases set in the walls upstairs and another 2 set in downstairs. The finish carpentry work in both rooms is remarkable. All the carpentry work was done by Mick.

Scope creep was not an issue for Mick. Along with the originally planned work for the additional rooms, he also built a deck and fit in the extra management necessary for the entire house to be roofed with architectural tiles. The house does not look like there was an addition to it. There is not any height difference in the flooring between the original first floor and the sunroom.

Everyone who enters the house is drawn to the sunroom and they always admire the outstanding workmanship. Several of our neighbors have called Mick for large projects in their homes after seeing his work and hearing of our wonderful build experience due to his talent and diligence.

We still depend on Mick whenever some mishap occurs in other parts of the house. He has replaced rotted and bowed cedar boards in the original house, repaired a split porch column, and responded to an urgent request to identify the location of an ice damn and to prevent it from causing any more damage. He was in the eves of our freezing cold attic instead of sitting at home watching a Super Bowl game and yet he seemed happy to be helping us out.

Our most recent call was due to a great deal of water damage from a pipe that let go upstairs while we were on vacation. Mick and his same set of subcontractors, plus one new one for tile installation, are in the midst of rebuilding 2 bathrooms and replacing damaged sections ceiling and hardwood floors in halls and closets as well. We knew Mick would rush over when we called and give us an education on what needed to be done and how to go about it. In the midst of the destruction he made us feel better about the situation.

We realized right away that if Mick had time for the repair work, the badly damaged rooms will soon be better than they ever were. We did not have any idea of how much experience Mick has with insurance claim work and have been amazed to see his ability to interact as well with adjusters as he does with home owners.

One of my favorite things to tell people about Mick is that he mentors young apprentices and treats them as if they were his peer. Not enough of us have the patience or find the time to give others a great start.

If I were to go on and on about Mick's excellent character traits and how well he puts up with fussy people like us you would think this is a review written by someone in his immediate family. We were complete strangers when we met in 2005. He has become a good and trusted friend because of all the very pleasant construction experiences we continue to have. Mick earned these comments and deserves the recognition for the significant improvements he made to our home.

Mick has done a beautiful bathroom renovation for us and constructed an amazing 12x16 shed. When we had a water leak into our downstairs family room, we called him right away. Mick was able to coordinate all of the subcontractors for us, collect their quotes and submit them to our homeowner’s insurance. The costs were covered in full and the repairs were done quickly, neatly and professionally, with minimal disruption to our family. He has always made himself available to take our calls, answer any of our questions and give us the benefit of his expertise when we were looking for ideas. In addition, his amicable disposition makes him a pleasure to have around. We never question his honesty or integrity, and cannot recommend him highly enough to our friends and family.

Manzola Carpentry rebuilt our back deck after a tree fell on it during a storm. Mick did a great job, not only getting us back to normal, but making sure the replacement deck met all codes (including stronger, expanded footings) and our requests for design improvements. We couldn't be happier. Mick also helped with negotiations with the insurance adjuster and recommended a great painter who finished the deck perfectly. All in all Mick is not only a professional carpenter, but an excellent resource for an all-around job-well done. Thanks Mick!

Back in early spring, Mick installed 2 custom-sized doors on our upstairs bedrooms. He was prompt in providing a very reasonable estimate, and he did a great job with the installation, connecting with me several times to schedule some additional but minor finish work when our two schedules were conflicting. I was impressed with his desire to complete the job to my full satisfaction. Because of that my husband and I are hiring him to install a window box, a very large one, in a prominent place on the front of our home. Today, he came to discuss details of the install, and I look forward to having him come back in a few weeks to do the job.

I could easily recommend Mick to my friends and am very happy with his work and his work ethic.
